I’m a keynote speaker!

It’s true, one of my first speaking gigs is coming up this Nov. 10, 2012 at Girls Gone North Weekend at the Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts. My speech is titled, “Change your equation, reignite your life.”

This is a special opportunity for me since I will be speaking to a group of 50-60+ women in the very room where I did cardio circuits during fitness boot camp two years ago to the month. It is where my transformation journey officially began!

I have a special love for this place and this particular event because five years ago I conceived the idea of Girls Gone North Weekend for Bluefin Bay. So I am keynoting our fifth year! And of course, most of you who read this blog know, the Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts on the North Shore of Lake Superior, is my number one “happy place.”

As if that weren’t enough excitement and nostalgia, my best girlfriends (my U of M sorority sisters) will be accompanying me. It’s our special girls weekend getaway and I can’t wait.

ALL of these ladies have been amazing friends and sisters over the years. Our enduring friendship exemplifies what it means to have true friends in the world who love you just as you are. They have each supported me along my transformation journey from beginning to end, including traveling to Maine one year ago to climb a big mountain in Acadia National Park and celebrate my -150 lb milestone. So it will be simply amazing to have them in the audience heckling me when I give my first official speech. And it gets even better.

Our program for this year’s girls weekend, is Power to the she! Our events and activities celebrate our strength as women – all that we are and all we are in transition to become! How cool is that?!

I am excited to welcome the Minnesota Monthly Magazine’s style team who did my transformation makeover for the July issue of Minnesota Monthly Magazine. Style editor Katie Dohman, my beloved hairstylists (the best in the world) Justine Hornick, make-up artist Fatima Olive, all will be presenting a style oriented segment and two lucky winners will be receiving makeovers and fashion advice.

I am so excited I can’t stand it! It’s time to share my story and pay it forward. And this first gig is extra special for me in so many ways.

There is still room at the AmericInn and Suites, across from Bluefin Bay, if you would like to attend. Check out the schedule of events on the Bluefin Bay website here. Download flyer here: GGN2012-keynote_flyer.

Did I mention I was excited?!! 🙂

NOTE: Special thanks to Jolita Rysdahl, my dear friend and marketing coordinator at Bluefin Bay. She puts heart and soul into Girls Gone North each year and this year took a chance on me! She also has supported me since day one in my transformation journey so it will be extra special to have her introduce me this year. 🙂

Thanks Sandra. You will be with me in spirit. But I do think we need to consider Surfside for an impending ceremony and celebration! 🙂

Thanks Shari. I so appreciate your love and support and look forward to really reconnecting again soon. I wish you could be there, too. But I know we’ll “do” the North Shore again sometime soon. Hugs!
