Sharing a happy moment

LoriSchaefer-After11Earlier today I renewed my driver’s license at the license bureau in Roseville. This has been a long time coming. My driver’s license photo hasn’t looked like me since I reached my goal weight and had a makeover last May. I kept wondering if I might get flagged by the TSA when traveling and going through the security check point.

I am sure that for most people getting your driver’s license renewed wouldn’t rank high on the list of fun things to do. (And who tells the truth about their weight on those things?! Really?)

Well, today it was fun for me AND I told the truth about my actual weight for the first time in my adult life!

When the clerk saw my old license and then me, and then my application, she did a double take and struck up a conversation about how much weight I lost and how I did it. I inadvertently recruited yet another candidate who wants to implement my exact process. 😉

But the most telling and perhaps triumphant part was when the computer flagged my application and alerted the clerk to “Check verification on person due to significant weight change.” Pretty cool.

I’ll admit that I probably still won’t like my driver’s license photo. Who does? But, regardless, today was an experience in my transformation process worth note. I am writing this blog more for me to mark the occasion as one of the happy moments along the way. Funny how they keep coming even when you don’t expect it.

P.S. No, this photo of me in the red coat is not my driver’s license photo – just a new one that I thought I would share. If only we could submit our own photos to the license bureau!
