Support comes in surprising packages

I am a dreamer and a believer, and today my faith that I have help in this journey was renewed.

Do you believe that you are given help or support just when you need it? That the right person, situation, or opportunity presents itself at just the right time to keep you focused and on track? I sure do! It has happened for me throughout this journey, and it happened again today.

Today, I am still struggling to get back to the basics on my program. I had hoped that writing the blog yesterday on this very topic and putting this out into the universe would help – and I guess to some degree it did. But, as I told a friend over tea this afternoon, I still feel “soft” or fuzzy about my program. Not as sharp and focused as I have been. And as I get closer to goal, it seems tougher to keep that laser beam focus and strict adherence to the plan. For whatever reason…for now, I am struggling.

Having tea today with my friend Marcia and being on the North Shore of Lake Superior working this week  certainly helped. As did a delightful interaction I had on the way home from tea this afternoon.

I stopped at the North Shore Market in Tofte to get some eggs and turkey to get me through the week. Nancy (an acquaintance) from the market was checking me out when she gave me a puzzled look and said, “Aren’t you the girl who works across the street at Bluefin?” Yes, I’m Lori, I said. “Wow,” she said, “I don’t know how to ask you this, but are you about half your size? (Pause.) I nodded and smiled. “You look amazing. Wow! Truly amazing…”

Nancy and her comment was a gift. An unexpected dose of reality and motivation to stay the course just when I needed it. Her genuine surprise, delight and support made me feel so good and reminded me of what is at stake. That, and tea with my wise and trusted friend Marcia, and I am once again re-focused with my eye on the prize.

I am filled with gratitude for the help I have received along this journey.
