Grateful to be in the equation

Love Yourself-In-the-EquationOne of the greatest gifts I’ve given myself during my transformation is the gift of being and living in the center of my own life. It did NOT come naturally or easy. And I am grateful for it every day.

Some of you will read this and it will be a given. But for many others, this is a foreign concept.

Far too many of us struggle to prioritize ourselves. We focus on doing everything for everyone else and feel there’s simply not enough of us to go around. Perhaps we do this out of self-sacrifice, responsibility to others, or because we feel we have no choice. For some of us, and this was true for me, we do it because we want to be loved and accepted. And we’re looking for that love and acceptance outside ourselves. Read more

Happiness revealed…

Surfside SunriseDo you ever stop and wonder what makes you happy? In a given moment, a day, a year, and in your life as a whole?

Happiness is something I think a lot about these days. I’ve finally learned how to live in the moment and be happy. To live in a short period of time and find happiness all around me. And, to live from a solid foundation of happiness that sustains me and my life.

It has NOT been an easy journey. But I am living proof that it is possible. It is available to you. And the secret is that it can only come from within. Read more

Being in your equation…finding life

Lori - FallIt’s no secret. If you’re reading this blog, you know that I am a recovering workaholic, food addict, and for far too many years gave too much of myself away to others at the expense of me. And that’s all changed.

I now live in the center of my equation, practice living in the moment, and I am happy to report — “I have found my life.” And I love it! I couldn’t be happier. Read more

Where do you find inspiration?

inspiredMy answer: All around me. Every day.

Lately, I’ve been keenly aware of all of the things around me that make me smile and inspire me to be the best person I can be. I have taken special note of the things and the people that inspire me to live in the moment, stay in the center of my equation, and approach the world from a foundation of true happiness.

The truth is, I am constantly inspired by little things. And this was not always the case. For years, I didn’t think about it or stop long enough to notice. Now, I am inspired every day. Read more

Dance First. Think Later.

Lori - Lobster DinnerAs I enjoy my morning coffee and ponder this past incredible week on the coast of Maine, I note the little paperback on my coffee table: “Dance First. Think Later.” Instantly, I smile. This week was all about dancing first, and thinking later. And as a result, I am forever changed.

I read a quote from my journal on the plane as I made my way to Maine for a business planning retreat. It went something like this: “If your dreams were a place, where would you be standing, what would you be doing, and what would you be looking at?”

Have you ever stopped long enough to ask and answer this question? And then had the courage to sit with your answer and just “be” or imagine “being” in that very place? Read more

My foundation of happiness

Lori-HappyFallLast week, I was driving alone in my car (tunes cranked) on my way to a client meeting when I randomly burst into a big smile. I couldn’t ditch the smile for several minutes. The song on the radio made me think about someone special and I was grinning from ear to ear — “perma grin.” I love these spontaneous outbursts of happiness in the middle of a stressful work day!

I know what you’re thinking. Yes, it was a “guy!” But that’s not the point. We dated and heĀ  is no longer in the picture. Nope, the girl didn’t get the boy. But instead of feeling bummed (already felt that emotion), I am truly grateful and happy that our paths crossed. We had fun. He is a great person and treated me well. While he was only in my life for a season — it was a good one and I feel blessed.

I’m recognizing small moments of happiness and gratitude, like this one, a lot lately.

Getting back to basics

Appreciating the journey, not just the destination

It's ok brave girl - listen to your heartI am passionate, goal driven and focused. I approach pretty much everything in life now by going 100% all in! Those of you who know me personally, know this to be true and sometimes tease me about it.

On Aug. 4th, after getting in touch with my deepest desires and re-prioritizing life, I embarked on a 28-day personal challenge to intensely re-focus on me. I decided to take both my physical and mental game to a whole new level.

I am now about half way through that challenge and still having to fight for it every day. It requires more focus and is harder than I thought. Read more

intheequation-summermountain-lorischaeferJuly 19-25, 2013

Okay, peeps. It’s accountability time. For me and for you! After a short period of “slippage” on life with Lori-in-the-equation, it’s time to restart. To get back in the center of the equation and with my health and wellness goals top of mind. Who’s with me?!

Today, I issued a 7-day In Your Equation Challenge. To accept the challenge and participate, you must commit to being 100% all in on being in your equation – whatever that means to you.
