2016 Anniversary Hike – Oberg Mountain

She climbed until she saw…Until she dropped the heavy weight she carried as a shield.

She climbed until she discovered she was enough, just exactly as she was.

She climbed and climbed and climbed until she found self-acceptance, self-love and compassion…until she mastered self-care as priority.

She climbed until she found a WHOLE life, not just a busy one. Until she learned to say no to things that no longer served her and YES! to the big wide-open world of possibilities.

She climbed, until she learned that indeed she could not only climb — she could FLY!

She climbed until she saw.

When I started my personal transformation journey, I also started this blog to document it. That was in Nov. 2010. At the time there was no question what the blog title would be — She Climbed Until She Saw.

Climbing mountains has been a metaphor for my transformation journey. Thus, at every milestone I find myself back on the mountaintop reflecting on the lessons and the gifts. Read more

Quieting the mind, listening to my heart

A place of personal retreatToday I write from a beautiful cabin in the woods on the edge of Lake Superior – my place of personal retreat for the long weekend, thanks to the generosity of some cool people. I decided to take a three-day time out from life to quiet my mind and listen to my heart.

This is not easy to do. It requires detaching from the outside world — including all technology — and sitting quietly…just you and your every thought. It takes time to quiet the outside voices long enough to hear your own. To get in touch with your deepest desires. But when you do, well, it’s pretty remarkable. Read more

Celebrating how far we’ve come

lori-speaking-intheequationHow often do we stop to appreciate and celebrate ourselves and the progress we’ve made toward our goals in life? If you’re like I used to be, the answer is probably rarely or never.

Why is that? Is it because we get so busy and feel there are never enough hours in the day to get to everyone and everything? Or, perhaps, we don’t see it. We simply don’t believe we deserve it. And we’re more likely to feel inadequate – never good enough, smart enough, sexy enough, strong enough…

For me, all of that changed when I transformed my body and my life (about two and a half years ago now). And, honestly, I haven’t looked back. It’s far too exciting to look forward…there is so much to celebrate and so much living to do! Read more

Quiet mind, happy heart

It’s a rainy, damp Thursday night and I am comfy, cozy and quiet in my cute, little cottage: “A Room of One’s Own” – a personal retreat center on the shores of Lake Superior owned by my friend Marcia Hyatt. Read more

Basking in the glow

How many spa appointments does a “centered” girl need?

The answer – at least three if she has herself in the center of the equation!

Yes, three 60-min spa appointments at Waves of Superior Spa (heavenly), two workouts in the fitness center with a view, a walk in the freshly fallen snow along Lake Superior’s shoreline, a little hot tubbing and a jacuzzi bath — all in the same day. Ha! Not to mention a little writing on my book. Read more

Birthday gifts for Lori

This morning I awoke on the North Shore of my beloved Lake Superior a happy, refreshed, and rejuvenated girl. So, on the spur of the moment, I decided to give myself one final birthday gift – an entire weekday morning to myself! No clients, no deadlines, no must dos, no worries. I simply took the morning off for fun and focus on Lori. Read more
