In-the-Equation Workshops Offered in MN

Join us Nov. 12, Nov. 19 & Dec. 3 — and let’s make YOU the priority!

ITE_Survival_quote_sqAre you too busy to be healthy? … Too busy to workout. Too busy to cook. Too busy to call a friend for a walk?

How about self-care? Are you taking care of your health and well-being… pursuing your goals and dreams or just taking care of others? Dare I ask: Are you even on your to-do list?

I get it! Most of us juggle many roles and responsibilities and pride ourselves on becoming experts at multitasking. But what happens when we slip out of the equation and end up doing everything for everyone else, with precious little time to care for and nurture ourselves?

At 381 lbs., working 12-18 hours seven days a week, I was the Queen of Busy and Unhealthy! (If there’s a crown for that one, I deserved it!) I wasn’t even in the equation of my own life. Then I found a better way. I put myself in the equation of my own life and lost 200+ lbs. — and most importantly found my healthy, happy and WHOLE life. You can, too!

As I’ve been sharing my transformation story and tips on how to prioritize you, practice self-care, and achieve transformative change in your life – so many people have asked for help. I recently conducted workshops in Maine and was asked — why not Minnesota?! So here you go. Read more

A butt-kicking boost at the Blue Hill YMCA

A great workout. A great asset to the community.

It was my first class at the local YMCA in Maine and it was GREAT!

Sometimes we don’t realize how lucky we are to have opportunities all around us for achieving our health and fitness goals — especially when we’re feeling unmotivated or stuck. The fact is, we all feel this way at times. It’s what we do during those “stuck” times that matters most.

I first discovered The Blue Hill YMCA this early summer upon the referral of a new friend who took the time to introduce me to the lead trainers and managers. I was welcomed immediately. I got a personal tour of the workout space and a meeting with co-managers Annie Grindal and Joy Bragdon. It’s then that I learned the story of how this awesome little YMCA has grown to a full six-day schedule — year round — in a small community that values health and fitness.

I was instantly hooked. Read more

From 381 pounds to boot camp to half marathon

Two years ago, I weighed 360+ pounds and by this time of day, at 8:45 a.m., I was several hours into day one of a live-in weight loss boot camp where we worked out 6-8 hours per day, pushing way past what we thought were our physical limits.

Today, on the two-year anniversary of my official transformation start, Women’s Running Magazine featured my blog intheequation.com in their Blogger on the Run series. Read more

Hey Fat Girl

EDITOR’S NOTE: My friend and trainer, Sandra Swami, shared this on her Facebook page. Wow, what a fitting and telling tribute of the journey to fat/weight loss. (Insert the word walking, biking, or training for running.)  I hope you find it as powerful as I did. To all those taking the first step, I APPLAUD YOU! Read more
