That’s who I am
The best form of affirmation!
A few weeks ago when I was off in Maine doing hard things, my beloved friend Mary knew I needed support and fired off a “Lori care package” in the U.S. mail.
In the package was a beautiful card offering words of encouragement and a CD from a local musician that Mary had heard perform at a wine bar in Florida. The singer/songwriter was Anji Kat, and the CD included the title song, “That’s who I am.” My friend, Mary wrote: “This made me think of my amazing, kick-ass friend, Lor.”
Mary doesn’t know this, but the timing of her card and the CD were quite serendipitous. I came home from my trip to find it in my mailbox and have been listening to it every day since! I’m using the song to affirm that indeed I am a strong, courageous, happy and healthy girl. And, as Anji Kat says, “I am the light. I am the love. I am the faith that never gives up.”
These days, five years into my personal transformation, as I find my mind wandering to a place of stress, self-doubt, and questioning my strength and stamina because things are hard, this song pulls me right back to center. Center is where I live now — in the center of my equation. But we all get pulled off track and this little gift helped me find my center again. My center: where I know I can do anything I set my mind to.
So thank you Mar! I adore you. And you’ve not only helped me, but I’m guessing the words to this song will help many others via the blog.
Enjoy “That’s who I am” by Anji Kat. (I couldn’t find a link to the music online as I wanted you to hear it. She has a gorgeous voice. The title and chorus to this song is now my new daily mantra.)
That’s who I am (By Anji Kat)
Some days I forget who I’m supposed to be and yet
There’s a voice deep inside
Will I choose to listen
Open to what’s hidden
In every heart, a spark so bright.
I am the light
I am the love
I am the faith that never gives up
I hide in the dark
I stumble and fall
I’m a storm of doubt
When hope is lost
An ocean in a tiny drop
That’s who I am.
I look in the mirror
Could it be any clearer,
I am more than I seem
Not just a number
I am here to discover,
The call to be everything I can be.
I am the light
I am the love
I am the faith that never gives up
I hide in the dark
I stumble and fall
I’m a storm of doubt
when hope is lost
An ocean in a tiny drop
That’s who I am.
I cannot hide
when part of the hope
A symphony needs every note.
I am the light
I am the love
I am the faith that never gives up
I am the light
I am the love
I am the faith that never gives up
I am the light
I am the love
I am the faith that never gives up
I hide in the dark
I stumble and fall
I’m a storm of doubt
When hope is lost
An ocean in a tiny drop
That’s who I am.
That’s who I am.
Anji Kat also has a song titled, Your Time, and I’ve adopted that one as my mantra for this chapter of my story and use it as daily affirmation, too.
Thanks Mary. Thanks Anji Kat. #grateful
